India second largest importer of Swiss gold: As much as threefifths of Indias total gold
 imports in 2014 came from Switzerland reflecting a significant jump in just a couple of
 years India imported 4719 tonnes of gold from Switzerland in 2014 according to precious
 metals consultancy GFMS Thomson Reuters that quoted a countrybycountry breakdown of
 gold imports and exports released by the Alpine country for the first time since 1980
This represents 61% of Indias total gold imports of 769 tonnes last year as per World
Gold Council data  According to GFMS Thomson Reuters India was the secondlargest

Highlights of DIPP clarifications • DIPP specified that the minimum capitalisation norm
 for FDI in construction was project specific and not company specific This means that
the norm specifying that new FDI will be allowed only if the minimum cap of $5 million is
 achieved within six months refers to a particular project and not the company making the
 investment After the minimum capitalisation norms are met FDI can be brought in for a
 period of 10 years or till the project is completed • DIPP also specified details
related to the exit clause It stated that exit is permitted even before completion of
the project or development of trunk infrastructure with the approval of the Foreign
Investment Promotion Board on a case to case basis After the completion of the project
exit is permitted on an automatic basis • The government allows up to 100 per cent FDI in

Government to revisit Jan Aushadhi scheme to expand reach: Health and Family Welfare
Minister J P Nadda informed the Rajya Sabha in March 2015 that the Jan Aushadhi scheme
 which seeks to provide quality medicine at affordable price is being revisited to expand
its reach across the country Under the scheme medicine stores were opened across the
country but only 96 are functioning as on date
• The aim of Jan Aushadhi scheme is to make available quality medicines at affordable
 prices for all especially the poor and the disadvantaged • Under this campaign less
 priced quality unbranded generic medicines will be made available through Jan Aushadhi

Twelve smart cities to come up at ports with Rs 50kcrore investment: Minister for Road
Transport Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari on 22 February 2015 announced that the
 government is working on an ambitious plan to build one smart city each at the countrys
 12 major ports at an estimated total investment of Rs 50000 crore
Smart Cities • These cities will be built as per international standards and have wide
roads green energy advanced townships and greenery • In addition these smart cities
and ports will have egovernance links international standard facilities special
 economic zones ship breaking and ship building centres besides allied things he said

 and confiscation of equivalent assets in India in cases where the ones located abroad
 cannot be forfeited As per the Bill
•    The offence of concealment of income or evasion of tax in relation to a foreign
asset will be made a predicate offence under the Prevention of Money Laundering law
 Enforcement agencies can then attach and confiscate unaccounted assets and launch
prosecution against persons indulging in money laundering
•    Concealment of income and assets and evasion of tax on foreign assets will be
prosecutable with punishment of rigorous imprisonment up to ten years
vThis offence will be made noncompoundable and penalty for such concealment of income and
 assets at 300 per cent tax would be levied The offenders will not be permitted to
approach the Settlement Commission
•    The foreign exchange management Act (FEMA) will be amended to the effect that if
 any foreign exchange foreign security or immovable property situated outside India is
 held in contravention of this law action may be taken for seizure and eventual
confiscation of assets of equivalent value situated in India
